Film News: ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress set for indie feature role — Andrea Bowen (“Desperate Housewives”) has been set to star in the upcoming indie feature “Preacher’s Daughter,” an indie about a woman who reunites with her estranged religious small-town minister father
Andrea Bowen shows off her renewed blonde locks as she arrives at the Audi/Chopard EMMY week red carpet style kick-off party held at Cecconi’s Restaurant in Los Angeles on Sunday night (August 22).
The 20-year-old actress debuted her new hair at French Connection’s Fall 2010 Collection debut party last week in West Hollywood.
Andrea will star alongside Step Up 3D’s Rick Malambri in the upcoming After The Fall.
The flick follows Jenna (Bowen), a competitive horse rider who is left paralyzed and her equestrian dreams shattered. She joins a physical therapy program as part of a clinical trial study but she’s hesitant to start the program. Wheelchair bound, Jenna’s life completely changes as she starts, her old friends and boyfriend disappear and lonely and frustrated, Jenna comes close to giving up. With the help of her new found friends and next door neighbor, ex-rodeo cowboy Will Dutton (Malambri), she finds inspiration to try and walk and ride again.
After the Fall premieres Saturday, October 9 @ 8PM ET/PT on Hallmark Channel.
We’re quite saddened to announce that Andrea will NOT be reprising her role as Susan’s voice-of-reason daughter, Julie Mayer. No word is out yet as to why Andrea will not be returning for September’s seventh season but we have to wonder how they will explain her leaving.
Julie’s story with the Fairview Strangler was but wasn’t entirely ended. Although we know what happened to Eddie we’re not too sure how the writers will explain that to his only surviving victim.
So we say a fond goodbye to Julie Mayer, we certainly hope to hear from and of her often. While we wait for the new season to start and see how they wrap up Julie’s story, I can announce that Andrea’s new Hallmark movie, After The Fall is slated to air on the Hallmark Channel later this year.

Greg Evigan (“My Two Dads”) co-stars in the movie, which centers on Jenna (Bowen), a champion horseback rider who fights to walk again after an accident leaves her paralyzed.
Evigan plays her supportive father.
Also cast in the movie are Alicia Ziegler (“Castle”) as Jenna’s best friend who bails on her, Fiona Dourif (“Bored to Death”) as her new goth friend and Rick Malambri (“Criminal Minds”) as a veterinarian and her next-door neighbor.
“Fall” is being produced by Larry Levinson Prods. Filming on the project has begun for a premiere this year. Bradford May is directing the film from a script by Wayne Lemon.
Bowen, who returned to “Housewives” full time this season, is repped by Domain and Framework.
Andrea was super pumped for Halloween this year, her tweets clearly showed a love for the amazing holiday. She went as Pamela Isley (AKA Poison Ivy) from Batman. The nerd in me is so proud that other people besides me appreciate the finer female characters (and not just Catwoman) of Batman, last year I donned a Harley Quinn costume. She granted desperatefans.org and bowen-central the allowance to post her costume photo for all her fans to see and adore!

Andrea Bowen of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” and Kathryn Morris of CBS’s “Cold Case” will be spokespersons for a new UV-Protective t-shirt line being launched by the Sun Safety Alliance (SSA), in collaboration with the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC). SSA has teamed up with AYANA Apparel to provide fashion-forward UV-Protective t-shirts that protect your skin while maintaining your sense of style. Proceeds from this t-shirt line will be donated to SSA for educational programs to promote skin cancer prevention (using code SSA09).

Wisteria Lane is welcoming back one of its own this fall: Original Desperate Housewives star Andrea Bowen has signed on to reprise her role as Susan’s eldest spawn, Julie.
Although ABC would only confirm that Bowen is set to appear in the Sept. 27 season premiere, a Housewives insider tells that the actress is returning as a series regular.
Bowen vanished from Housewives at the end of season 4, a casualty of the show’s four-year flash forward. She briefly returned last season when Julie, on break from college, announced that she was dating her 40-year-old professor Lloyd (Steven Weber). It’s not clear if he’ll be accompanying her back home, but I’m guessing not.
